Sunset Cliffs Engagement Photos

Catherine and Justin traveled from Washington to visit us a few weeks ago and we absolutely loved shooting their Sunset Cliffs engagement photos.  Okay guys, if you follow my blog you’d know that Justin and Catherine have “engagement” photos in just about every state we’ve ever been in together!  You can see their Virginia anniversary photos, featured on Tidewater and Tulle and also here on my blog. For the sake of this blog post, and for inspiration for my brides, we are going to call this an engagement session. 😉  When visiting San Diego, there are miles of coastline to view. Nothing truly compares to Sunset Cliffs Natural Park.

Catherine is always so photogenic, but these are by far my favorite headshots I’ve ever taken of her! Below, Justin is flying his new drone!

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

Located on the Western edge of Point Loma, Sunset Cliffs Natural Park was dedicated in 1983. With around 68 acres of linear park, Sunset Cliffs makes the perfect spot to capture engagement photos.  The park’s topography offers superb views, which allows for so much variation in the type of session you want to get out of your Sunset Cliffs engagement photos.

The panoramic ocean views are unbelievable! We even saw surfers catching some sunset waves. The session paired with the gorgeous sunset truly felt like a dream. We loved the coastal bluffs and intricate sea caves below us. I can’t wait to come back with Chris to do some San Diego whale watching when they migrate to Baja!

Catherine and Justin

Catherine and Justin are two of the sweetest, and kindest people!  Do you have friends that are down for anything?  Catherine scrambled up large rocks and stood on the edge of the cliff for their engagement photos in an all-white outfit!  She’s much braver than I am.  Justin brought his Mavic Pro Drone and took some videos of our evening once we were done shooting! I can’t wait to see what he puts together!  Thank you both again so much for coming out and doing some Sunset Cliffs engagement photos with me!

I really want to find this adorable couple and give them this image! They were so stinking cute kissing in the water and enjoying the sunset. I half expected him to get down and propose!

  2. […] I’m so excited to share these Lavender Valley Farms Maternity photos. You probably haven’t had to follow me long to recognize my sweet friends, Catherine and Justin. I’ve been so honored to capture their photos for the last few years.  Catherine has been so sweet to take some of ours as well – you can find her work here.  This is actually the second maternity shoot I’ve taken of Justin and Catherine. The two spilled the beans to us very early in Catherine’s pregnancy while they were visiting in San Diego, and we had to keep it a secret and disguise the shoot as a San Diego engagement photo session at Sunset Cliffs.
