I always get excited when I venture to the famous Hotel Del for Coronado Family Portraits. Coronado is a picturesque slice of San Diego. The Island is surrounded almost entirely by deep indigo water and features one of the most iconic hotels in the world – Hotel Del Coronado. Coronado’s Hotel Del has been around for nearly 130 years. One of my favorite things about venturing through The Del is that most of the original architecture hasn’t changed a bit! This rich history makes The Del the perfect place to take your Coronado family photos.
I absolutely love being a film photographer and photographing Coronado family portraits in such a historically rich atmosphere. Coronado Beach is the perfect location for family portraits at the Hotel Del. The best place to do this type of session hands-down is the Hotel Del! When vacationing at the Hotel Del Coronado, the historical architecture makes the perfect backdrop for your Coronado Family Portraits!
No two Hotel Del Coronado family photo sessions look the same. For example, Coronado’s sunsets and tide schedule can greatly change the vibe of your session. Some Coronado Beach sunsets drench clients in a golden glow, and other evenings, the sky is painted pink. Even moody or overcast days in Coronado deliver the most striking Southern California beauty.
For the Kuenster family’s Hotel Del Coronado family photos, we had the most gorgeous light I’ve seen all summer! The sun was glowing golden orange and washed the sky with warm tones
I photographed the Kuensters for a Lake Tahoe Family Photo Session a couple of years ago. (You can view their Lake Tahoe Family Photo Session Here!) Kelly had big news when she asked me to document their Coronado Family Photos; they added twins to the mix! Their oldest daughter, Siena, is at such a fun age! She’s sweet and fearless, and she loved to explore along the beach! It took a little work, but we captured some really sweet moments! My favorite moment was when Siena was very adamant that her sister learn to dip her toes into the ocean. It was adorable to watch her try to help out. She’s a great big sister! Kelly owns a fine-art wedding stationary service, Paper By The Bay, so of course we had to update her headshot to go with her beautiful new website!
