Julie and Ben filled their big day with fun-loving, rustic Ohio charm. Held at Black Bird Farm in Ohio, the venue is known for it’s rolling cornfields, authentic turn-of-the-century architecture, and rich character. With intimate charm and wide-open spaces, a wedding at Black Bird Farm is bound to be a magical event. And was this event ever magical!
Cool blues and dusty pinks made up the palette for this affair. The decidedly muted colors matched seamlessly with the farm’s natural surroundings. Additionally, the effortless coordination appeared in all details of the wedding. From Ben’s navy suit to his dusty blue floral tie, the color scheme and rustic feel created a relaxed elegance that carried through the evening. Julie’s flowing Hayley Paige personified romance. She was, quite literally, breathtaking. Whimsical floral arrangements by Buckeye Blooms only served to enhance the charm and character of the day.
I will always say yes to bringing the puppy along. How sweet is Cali, girl in her floral collar?
Ohio Barn Wedding Venue
While Black Bird Farm has various spaces for weddings to be held, Julie and Ben opted for the barn. Soft cafe lights hung atop the lofts and a giant American flag served as the backdrop. The barn was worthy of its own Pinterest board. Later on, cool blue lighting, strobe lights and fog further transformed the barn during the reception. With barn weddings trending, you could not imagine a more picture-perfect place to tie the knot!
Down The Aisle
If you’ve heard the story of how Ben and Julie met, then it probably wouldn’t surprise you to learn that she had a little difficulty getting down the aisle in her Haley Paige gown. Julie stopped halfway down, scooped up her dress, and shouted to Ben, “I’m coming! I’ll get there eventually!” and she sent the crowd into a fit of laughter.
This is how carefree every wedding ceremony should be.
One of the most important features of any wedding reception is the music and Julie and Ben left nothing to chance when they hired a live band, Truck Stop Manners, to perform. They knocked it out of the park (cornfield?) with this choice! The band kept the party going and at one point they even prompted the 240-guest wedding to erupt into a conga line! The newlyweds didn’t stop with the band.
I love this Youngstown cookie table tradition: In lieu of a traditional cake, each guest brings a plate full of cookies for the bride and groom! With over 240 guests in attendance, the cookie table(s) were overflowing into every part of the venue!
As the party was in full swing, they surprised their guests with Amy May’s Authentic Taco Truck. What a magnificent way to end the night! Julie and Ben’s Black Bird Farm wedding was one for the ages. This was one of those serendipitous events where the perfect setting joined with the perfect couple to form the most perfect day!
