The Resort At Squaw Creek Wedding Of Courtney and Trevor
The day started with wonderful 70 degree temps and sun – a perfect late summer day to get hitched. Courtney and Trevor are my sweet clients from the Bay Area, traveling to the Truckee/Tahoe region to celebrate in the most beautiful mountain meadow in the country, Squaw Valley. Their venue of choice: The Resort At Squaw Creek, nestled in the foothills of Olympic Valley, California, with towering mountain views, a sweeping golf course, and rolling meadows as a backdrop.
Unfortunately, life doesn’t always go as planned. Weather was rolling in through the mountains, and fast. We boarded the elevators to try to beat the rain, and at the exact moment the elevators opened to let us out, the downpour began. Courtney was such a trooper and still wanted her private first look with Trevor. We may not have had a mountainous, picturesque backdrop behind them, but we did have was one of the sweetest first looks I’ve ever seen. I mean, these two were LITERALLY kissing in the rain. Seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day. It was all the feels, and I watched as a calmness swept over Courtney, just being near her love. These two are truly a match made in heaven.
The original backup plan was to move the ceremony under Courtney and Trevor’s GORGEOUS tent, that they teamed up with Summit Soiree to design one of the most stunning and unique reception spaces I’ve ever seen. Every detail was perfection from the pink, blush, and cranberry toned florals, to the intricate chandeliers. And, you guys, can we talk about the amazing etched glass seating chart draping with the most stunning garland? I was in photography heaven… that is… until Mother Nature decided to up the anti.
In the midst of the pouring rain, vendors worked to tear down the ceremony site and move everything to the tent, and then the lightning began. The poor tent and all of the gorgeous details had to be relocated to a third, unplanned location. Thank goodness The Resort At Squaw Creek has an unbelievable lodge with panoramic views of the meadow. The ceremony was short, and heartfelt, with a wine ceremony to symbolize their unity. Both the bride and groom took a well-deserved extra large swig 😉 and when the officiant announced them as husband and wife, cheers echoed in the vaulted lodge ceiling. I’ve never seen a more perfect makeshift ceremony in my life.
Mother nature finally decided to go easy on us and part the storms. We had a short while to take some wedding party photos outside, which ended up with the most beautiful, vibrant sunset I’ve ever seen.
These two embraced their crazy day, and even got to have a romantic dance alone at the end of the night under their stunning tent to make up for the weather. I am so thankful I was able to capture this day as it unfolded, and document the love story between you two!
