Sunset Cliffs Natural Park

Located on the Western edge of Point Loma, Sunset Cliffs Natural Park was dedicated in 1983. With around 68 acres of linear park, Sunset Cliffs makes the perfect spot to capture engagement photos.  The park’s topography offers superb views, which allows for so much variation in the type of session you want to get out of your Sunset Cliffs Elopement at the San Diego Sea Cave.

The panoramic ocean views are unbelievable! We even saw surfers catching some sunset waves. The session paired with the gorgeous sunset truly felt like a dream. We loved the coastal bluffs and intricate sea caves below us. There is so much to see at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, but nothing truly compares to the elusive open air sea cave. The cave is only accessible during certain, unique tide schedules, and we were so lucky to catch the tides just right!

For this stunning editorial, Kelly, of Le Champagne events had quite the adventurous vision. She pictured an adventurous couple, scaling Sunset Cliffs, and sneaking into the secluded open-air sea cave to exchange vows. This is one of the most adventurous elopement locations in Southern California because it’s only accessible in a negative low tide. If you’re planning an Open-Air San Diego sea cave elopement, you’ll need to wade through the tide pools. With this in mind, be prepared to get that gorgeous dress wet!  The hike in is about one mile, but totally worth the beauty this San Diego sea cave elopement spot provides.

San Diego Floral Designer

Kelly, of LeChampagne Projects, is a creative mastermind when it comes to florals. For this shoot in particular, she nailed the aesthetic and crafted the most beautifully rich bouquet. The lush blooms were loose and playful, with special attention to texture. Furthermore, quick sand roses placed lovingly alongside fringed tulips and fuchsia orchids provided the perfect pairing of blooms. Blush silk ribbons draped from the bouquet and flowed in the salty breeze. Brides, I highly suggest for you to invest in silk ribbon for your bouquet, or as your floral designer to upgrade. This will not only elevate your bouquet, it will elevate the entire feel of your wedding. Your bouquet is pictured in nearly every photo on your big day. This is something that’s so important to invest in. After the wedding, your silk ribbon can be salvaged and stored as an heirloom on a wooden spool.

We are incredibly thankful for the fabulous team at Bridal Showcase Bridal Salon for pulling our bridal look. This elopement gown by Allure Bridals, was the most perfect fit for the elopement. We loved that the fringed train matched the fringed tulips in the bouquet. The fabric on this gown is soft and delicate, and moves so lovely in the wind. The backless scoop gown with delicate, beaded straps, gave us just enough detail without taking away from the bride. The team over at Friar Tux, my personal favorite San Diego Tux Rental company, pulled a relaxed sand-colored suit. We love the laid back vibe our model, Carr, gave with the unbuttoned shirt and barefoot look. But also, who doesn’t love a man holding a bouquet?

Beauty

XO Beauty Co. pulled together the softest, most beautiful look for our adventurous bride. We love the tousled braid along with the loose curls that frame the bride’s face. We love how the breeze picked up small curls and the movement that was created. Jen’s soft makeup was the perfect bridal look for the adventurous, carefree vibes of the San Diego Sea Cave elopement at Sunset Cliffs. Neutral makeup looks so fresh on camera, and we love that the team at XO Beauty Co. added a touch of dusty pink lip to finish the look.
