Allison and Mark recently moved to San Diego from Manhattan. When they reached out for me to photograph their civil marriage ceremony downtown at the County Administration Building, I was so excited! First, the downtown location is the most beautiful courthouse I’ve ever seen. Located along the San Diego Bay, there’s no shortage of photo opportunities.

When we arrived at the courthouse, Allison and Mark went inside to begin their marriage license. Once they confirmed they weren’t first cousins, it was game time. They chose to have their ceremony on the grounds overlooking the bay. I highly suggest choosing this option for your San Diego Courthouse wedding. The ceremony site was covered in lush, tropical landscaping. The morning was beautiful with plenty of warm sunshine flooding the scene.

After their vows, we chose to walk around the waterfront park and take photos in front of the Star Of India, an iconic part of San Diego’s culture. The blue in these photos perfectly matched the cool-toned vibe Mark was wearing. Allison chose a long-sleeved lace wedding gown from Lulus. My favorite part about this dress was the keyhole back detailing. We ended their elopement photos on the front courtyard of the San Diego County Administration Building. This is by far my favorite area of the courthouse. The beautiful blue fountains and soft green tones make for lovely photos.
